needlepoint & little rabbits, 2023

Needlepoint & Little Rabbits is a multi-media installation that serves as a love letter to Fotini Dionysopoulou Kikiras, my Yiayia. It’s a glimpse into what it is like to be her grandchild, a glimpse into our shared home “studio”.

See her through my eyes,

in her beauty, in her skill, in her smile.

Hear her through my ears,

in her stories, in her sighs, in her laugh.

Feel her through my heart,

in her kindness, in her strength, in her love.

Together, we have made the beginnings of a traditional Greek Tsolias uniform, just as she used to make for me when I was young. 

A task that was once only hers is now shared between us. 

It is now ours.

May she tell her stories through me.
